TULSA, Okla. – For the first time in the history of the school, ORU was able to have a home outdoor track meet, and the Golden Eagles took advantage of the new ONEOK Sports Complex, hosting a high school and college meet, as well as the 2018 Summit League Outdoor Track & Field Championship.
The first ever track meet on the ORU campus could only be classified as a success as ORU broke two school records and posted some of the best marks in the nation. Aniekeme Etim broke the school's 200-meter dash record with a time of 23.20, and combined with Kirsten Burnett, Mercy Abire and Kayvon Stubbs to break the 4x100-meter relay record at 45.19 seconds.
Austin Simpson was the first ORU athlete to compete at the new facility as he threw a personal best 49.16-meters in the Javelin Friday night before the bulk of the meet took place Saturday.
