TUCSON, Ariz. - Oral Roberts senior Anthony Sequeira earned second-team Louisville Slugger All-America honors as chosen by Collegiate Baseball. The team was announced on Thursday morning.
The two-way man has led the team offensively with 10 home runs to go along with a .343 batting average. After proving himself as an offensive threat, the Petaluma, Calif. native also excelled on the mound for the Golden Eagles, leading the conference with 11 saves. Sequeira also boasts an ERA of 1.50 in 30 innings of work. He ranks in the top 10 in hits (73), doubles (20) and walks (29).
He is the first ORU player to earn All-American honors since 2013 when Alex Gonzalez was named to the second team by Perfect Game USA.
2015 Highlights: Sequeira earned The Summit League Player of the Year honors while also being name to the all-League First Team as utility player and relief pitcher … The senior is also a semifinalist for the John Olerud Two-Way Player Award after leading The Summit League with 10 home runs, 54 RBI, 20 doubles and 11 saves out of the bullpen … Earned Summit League Player of the Week honors twice and Summit League Pitcher of the Week accolades twice as he was also named to the Summit League All-Tournament Team … He was 1-1 on the mound in 30 innings pitched with 38 strikes and just 11 walks … He had the second best batting average for the Golden Eagles and eighth best among Summit League hitters at a .343 clip … He led ORU with a .577 slugging percentage while also posting a .429 on base percentage … Posted a career day at Arkansas-Little Rock going 3-for-5 with seven RBI and a grand slam … He had a team best 22 multiple hit games and 17 multiple RBI games … He also carries and season best eight game hitting streak into the NCAA tournament.
