TULSA, Okla. - Matt Whatley has been named second team Freshman All-America, announced Perfect Game Wednesday morning.
This marks the fourth Freshman All-America honor Whatley has been named to since the conclusion of the 2015. He was named a Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball, Baseball America and D1Baseball.com earlier this month.
In addition to the Freshman All-America honors, the Claremore, Okla. native earned Summit League Newcomer of the Year honors and First Team All-Summit League accolades at behind the plate.
Whatley led ORU in hitting with a .355 average. His 44 RBI were second most among the Golden Eagles and finished the season with a .528 slugging percentage and .437 on base percentage. He had a team high 56 runs scored which also ranked in the top 50 nationally adding, three triples and 16 stolen bases.
