TULSA, Okla. - Oral Roberts capped off its weekend with a pair of victories in route to a three-game sweep over visiting North Dakota State Sunday afternoon at J.L. Johnson Stadium. Pitching dominated game one in a 6-3 win while Oral Roberts took the nightcap, 8-6, as ORU won its sixth straight game.

Brent Williams led the Golden Eagles (17-10, 7-2 SL) on the day. The junior combined for four hits, including his second home run of the weekend on the day. In total the Colorado Springs, Colorado native drove in three runs, scored twice and drew a pair of walks.

Nick Wood made his fifth start of the season in the early game. The redshirt senior went four innings, allowing three unearned runs and striking out four in the no decision.

Freshman Josh McMinn continued his dominance out of the bullpen though, shutting down the Bison offense in five innings of no-hit baseball. In all, the Oklahoma City native struck out four batters and walked one as he improved to 3-1 on the season.

The Golden Eagles trailed early, 3-0, but quickly answered the Bison output with a run in the bottom of the third to cut the deficit before taking the lead with a three-run sixth inning.

Noah Cummings led off the inning with a double down the left field line before Williams drove him home on a single up the middle. That was when Chase Stafford added on to his team leading doubles total scoring both Trevin Sonnier and Williams to cap the inning off.

Williams would add to the Oral Roberts lead with a two-run home run to left center in the seventh. It marked his third home run of the season and second of the series.

The Bison (11-13, 2-7 SL) came out swinging in the late game, scoring four runs in three innings, but ORU would answer the call in the fourth with sharp plate vision, kicking things off as Nick Rotola and Nick Roark each drew one out walks. After a wild pitch allowed the each runner to move up a base, the Bison issue the first of two intentional walks to sophomore Matt Whatley

Bakersfield, California native Rolando Martinez would bring in the first run on a sacrifice fly to right field before Roark made his way to the plate on a passed ball. Hungate would pick up one of his three RBI on the day later in the inning as he drove a ball to left field to score Cummings from second base.

North Dakota State would make the game interesting in the eighth inning, scoring a pair of runs to cut the lead to 7-6, but would strand runners on the corners to end the threat.

A two-out rally in the ninth would add an insurance run for the Golden Eagles. Cummings started the rally with a single up the middle followed by a base hit by Williams. Hungate would drive in the run after singling to left.

Junior Brady Womacks would earn the two-inning save, his fifth of the season. Canyon, Texas native Grant Glaze (1-0) picked up the win in relief. The right-hander allowed three hits in three and a third innings while striking out three.
