Oral Roberts baseball players are around the country competing in summer baseball leagues. Here's a quick update on the Golden Eagles.

THE HIGHLIGHTS

  • Utility man Sam Grellner has also put up great numbers this summer with the Bethany Bulls. In 17 games, Grellner has 18 hits, including four doubles and home run for a .286 average.
  • Trent Shelton has recorded six hits in his last eight games for a .261 average.
  • Michael Hungate has continued his success from last spring into summer, fifth on the Sharks with a .294 average.
  • Southpaw Jake Morrison has seen over 27 innings of work this summer over eight appearances, including three starts. Morrison boasts a 2.96 ERA and a 3-1 record for the Fort Worth Whitetails.
  • Right-hander Kyler Stout has put together a solid summer on the mound with a 3.60 ERA in 10 innings of work, but the Broken Arrow, Oklahoma native has also swung the bat well, notching a home run in two at bats.

  • Nick Rotola has also swung the bat well with the Wilmington Sharks. The outfielder has put together a .269 average on 18 hits, including six doubles.
  • In one of the most competitive League's year in and year out, Matt Whatley has put together four multi-hit games with the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox in the Cape Cod League. The Claremore, Oklahoma native has 17 hits in 29 games for a .198 average.
