DALLAS, Texas – Oral Roberts baseball walked eight hitters on the road in a 10-1 loss at nationally-ranked Dallas Baptist Friday night at Horner Ballpark.
Noah Cummings launched a solo home run with one out in the top of the sixth to cut into the deficit, trailing 4-1. Spencer Henson and Riley Keizor followed with singles bringing the tying run to the plate. ORU could not find the swing it needed and DBU broke the game open scoring six times in the bottom half of the frame.
The Golden Eagles got eight hits from seven different players in the defeat as they left nine runners on base, including a pair in scoring position in the top of the first.
Quote of the Day
"We have to get ready for tomorrow. The best part about getting this one over with is you start 0-0 tomorrow. You've got a chance to win a game, got a chance to win a series. We just have to play better." – Head Coach Ryan Folmar
After ORU failed to capitalize on its chance with the tying run batting in the sixth, the Patriots came through with two home runs to turn the momentum back to their side. The Golden Eagles walked four batters and hit another as the Patriots scored six runs in the inning. ORU entered the weekend walking only 31 batters in 90 innings of work.
