CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – A five-run fourth inning by Ohio State proved too much for the Oral Roberts baseball team to overcome in an 8-3 setback Sunday morning at Whataburger Field in the final game of the 2019 Kleberg Bank College Classic.

The Buckeyes scored the first seven runs of the day before the Golden Eagles' bullpen limited the Big 10 opponent to one run over the final 4.1 innings giving their offense a chance to mount a comeback.

ORU had numerous opportunities to climb back into the contest, but stranded seven runners on base, including the bases loaded in the sixth inning after having two runners on ending the fifth.

Turning Point

The Buckeyes built an early 2-0 lead over ORU scoring in the first and second innings before breaking the contest open in a five-run fourth. A three-run home run off the bat of OSU's Dominic Canzone highlighted the inning as the first four batters reached safely in the frame. Malik Jones hit a bases-loaded single and Kobie Foppe followed with a sacrifice fly before the long ball from Canzone stretched the Buckeyes' margin to 7-0.

Inside the Box Score

- Hunter Wilson led the Golden Eagles offensively tallying two hits, while Blake Hall and Anthony Martinez reached base twice drawing two walks apiece and scored a run.

- Trey Wolf pitched a fantastic outing from the ORU bullpen striking out four Buckeyes in 2.1 innings of work. The freshman allowed just one hit in his longest outing of the season. Chris Henderson and Sam Rainwater also pitched an inning for ORU in the final two frames.

- ORU scored two of its three runs via a wild pitch from OSU, while Spencer Henson drove in his team-leading eighth RBI of the year hitting a RBI single in the seventh. The junior also walked in the sixth reaching base twice.

- Isaac Coffey suffered the loss on the mound for the Golden Eagles giving up seven runs on seven hits over 3.2 innings and a pair of strikeouts.
