NATCHITOCHES, La. - The regular season will come to an end on Saturday with plenty on the line regarding seeding for both Oral Roberts and Northwestern State as the two teams face off Saturday at 3 p.m. inside Prather Coliseum.
Based on Saturday's results, the Golden Eagles can claim the fourth seed or the sixth seed for the 2014 Southland Conference Tournament in Katy, Texas.
If ORU (16-14, 10-7 SLC) wins and Nicholls loses on Saturday, ORU and Northwestern State would finish tied for fourth, giving ORU the tie breaker and fourth seed due to ORU's victory over Sam Houston State. If ORU loses, or ORU and Nicholls both win, ORU would start the tournament as the sixth seed. See all of the tiebreak scenarios at Southland.org.
Audio of Saturday's game will be broadcast live in the Tulsa area on 97.1 FM "The Sports Animal," and free online through the ORU athletics website, www.ORUGoldenEagles.com. Fans on twitter can also follow the @ORUMBB account for live updates and notes throughout the game.
After topping ORU earlier this year at the Mabee Center on Jan. 25, Northwestern State took a 5-1 lead in the all time series against ORU. The Golden Eagles' lone victory came last year at home. Saturday's game will be the second meeting in Natchitoches.
