Emegano Named to ADA Scholar-Athlete Team

TULSA, Okla. –Oral Roberts standout Obi Emegano is one of 10 athletes who have been named to the DI-AAA ADA Scholar-Athlete Team after the senior led the Summit League in scoring and posted a 3.66 graduate GPA in counseling. Emegano is the first Golden Eagle since Luke Spencer-Gardner in 2005 to earn the honor.

In his senior season, Emegano was a first team All-Summit League selection, a semifinalist for the CCR Mid-Major Player of the Year and was named the Summit League Player of the Year by HoopsHD. He was one of six Golden Eagles in the department honored as an Ultimate Whole Person Champion after finishing the year tied for eighth nationally in scoring. Off the court, Emegano earned his bachelor's degree in psychology and holds a 3.66 graduate GPA while working on his master's in counseling. He has worked with the Tulsa Boys Home and volunteered at the Hope Center, which is a Biblical-based counseling center. He was also part of the team's mission trip to the Dominican Republic and has volunteered at McClure Elementary school.

A special Review Committee of Division I-AAA athletics directors were responsible for selecting the winners. Completing this task were Committee Chair Tim HallAmanda Braun, Wisconsin-Milwaukee; Don DiJulia, St. Joseph's; Gene Doris, Fairfield; Bill Hogan, Seattle; Bill Husak, Loyola Marymount; Philip Hutcheson, Lipscomb; Scott Lazenby, Texas A&M Corpus Christi; and Jean Lenti Ponsetto, DePaul.
