Golden Eagles Grab 3-1 Win over Grand Canyon Monday

TULSA, Okla. – The Oral Roberts men's soccer team defeated Grand Canyon, 3-1, Monday evening at the Case Soccer Complex for the team's third straight win and improves its record to 5-2-1.

Grand Canyon jumped out first to a 1-0 lead in the ninth minute of play when Marios Andreou scored on a loose ball from inside the box that he shot through the keeper from six yards out.

Dante Brigida scored his sixth goal of the season and tied the match 1-1 for the Golden Eagles in the 33rd minute when he took a pass from Junior Chavez from center and scored on the left side from 14 yards out. Chavez was credited with the assist.

Javier Palero recorded his first career goal as a Golden Eagle in the 58th minute to give ORU a 2-1 advantage. The goal, which was ultimately the game winning goal, came off of a corner kick by Tanguy Guerineau that he headed across the keeper to the back of the net on the left side.

Junior Chavez added the insurance goal to give the Golden Eagles a 3-1 lead in the 63rd minute. Chavez took the ball through defenders on an assist by Tanguy Guerineau and scored from 16 yards out.

- ORU out-shot Grand Canyon 17-10 in the match. The Golden Eagles had 11 shots on goal, while the Lopes had six.

- Miles Motakef played all 90 minutes in tonight's match and recorded four saves. Motakef's record moves to 5-2-1 on the season. He leads the Summit League in saves with 41 for the season.

- Junior Chavez recorded five shots on goal with one goal and one assist. Dante Brigida recorded two shots on goal with one goal and one assist. Brigida is currently second in the Summit League with six goals this season.

- Javier Palero scored his first career goal as a Golden Eagle and his first goal in the United States in tonight's match.

- Tanguy Guerineau had two shots on goal and two assists in the game.

- There were 22 fouls called in tonight's contest.

- ORU took 13 corner kicks in the match while Grand Canyon had four.
