TULSA, Okla. – Oral Roberts men's tennis student-athlete Barnabas Koncz recently represented his home country of Hungary and Oral Roberts University Tennis in the 29th University World Games in Taipei, Taiwan.
In singles action, Barnabas Koncz received a first round bye and advanced to the second round to face Great Britain's Mark Whitehouse. Koncz fell to Whitehouse in the second round 6-1, 6-2. Whitehouse has a current worldwide singles ranking of 1,228 and has been as high as 979.
Koncz received a walkover win in doubles over Botswana in the first round. In the second round, he and his partner, Gergely Madarasz, fell 6-2, 6-2 to Japan's Shintaro Imai and Kaito Uesugi. Imai has a current doubles ranking of 285 and Uesugi has an 839 ranking.
"I am extremely proud of Barni and know he is representing ORU with great pride." ORU Head Coach Mark Milner said. "The level of competition is very high and he is gaining valuable experience that will prepare him for our tough schedule."
