ORU Kicks Off 2018 Summit League Championship

TULSA, Okla. – The 2018 Summit League Championship began Thursday at the ONEOK Sports Complex, with Oral Roberts beginning competition in the final two events of the day.

News and Notes
- Austin Simpson finished seventh in the men's javelin as ORU's only competitor on the men's side Thursday. Simpson's best mark was 49.84m (163-6).

- Tiffany Estala led a trio of scorers in the women's pole vault as she finished fifth with a height of 3.86m (12-8). Makayla Linebarger took seventh at 3.71m (12-2) and Brittany McDonald finished eighth at 3.56m (11-8) as ORU tallied seven team points in the event.

- Freshman Heather Ward posted a huge personal best in her first outdoor championship, clearing 3.41m (11-2.25). It was almost a foot higher than her previous outdoor best of 3.15m (10-4).
