ORU Crowns 10 More Champions at Summit League Championship

MACOMB, Ill.  – The Oral Roberts track and field teams were dominant on Friday, earning 10 event championships and two individual awards on the final day of the 2019 Summit League Outdoor Track & Field Championships. ORU took home Track Championship MVP (Sasha Wells) and Newcomer of the Championship (Gabrielle Gibson) honors on the women's side.

News and Notes
- Wells shattered the meet record with a time of 13.44 seconds in the 100 meter hurdles, tying her lifetime best which she ran at the 2018 CARIFTA games.

- Gibson accounted for 15 points at the meet to earn Newcomer of the Championship honors.

- ORU swept the 4x400 meter relay events. It is the eighth consecutive Summit League title in the 4x400 on the men's side.

- Jaden Purnell swept the jump events, winning the long jump Thursday and the triple jump Friday. Purnell led from the start in the triple jump, and would have won with his opening mark, but put his best jump together in his final attempt for a distance of 15.76m (51-8.5)

- Christina Ollison ran a personal best 54.35 in the 400m dash.

- The men's 4x100 meter relay team ran 42.36 seconds, which is their fastest time of the season.

- Both the ORU men's and women's teams finished fourth in the team standings.
