Golden Eagles Announce Nonconference Schedule

Golden Eagles Announce Nonconference Schedule

TULSA, Okla. – The Oral Roberts women's basketball team has finalized 2016-17 season schedule which includes six games against power five universities. The Golden Eagles will play all six games of those games on the road.

"Typical to most seasons, we have a tough non-conference schedule," Head Coach Misti Cussen said. "After being hampered with injuries last year, we're excited for this season to begin. Our full roster strength and team depth will be a huge asset for this season."

The ORU women will play at Iowa, Northwestern, Kansas, Oklahoma, Arizona State and Arkansas. Arizona State and Oklahoma both made appearances in the NCAA Tournament last season. The two teams were eliminated in the second round. Also, last season the Golden Eagles defeated Kansas 70-63 in Allen Fieldhouse, but lost at Arkansas 65-50.

ORU will also travel to Houston to take on Houston Baptist (Nov. 26) as well as travel to Arkansas to play Little Rock (Dec.1).

The PSO Mayor's Cup game against Tulsa (Nov. 17) and a game against NCAA tournament participant Missouri State (Dec. 7) are the highlights of the nonconference home games. The Golden Eagles beat Tulsa last season 59-53 at the Reynolds Center, but lost at Missouri State 72-64. ORU will also host Rogers State (Nov. 5) in an exhibition game as well as USAO (Nov. 29), Tennessee-Martin (Dec. 10) and Mid America Christian (Dec. 14) during the nonconference season.

ORU's Lakota Beatty and Jordan Gilbert are coming off of their redshirt seasons and the Golden Eagles leading scorer during nonconference play last year, Bria Pitts, is back after suffering a knee injury. Maria Martianez, Faith Ihim and Kaylan Mayberry received postseason recognition for their efforts during the 2015-16 season. The Golden Eagles finished 14-16 overall and 10-6 in Summit League play.
