TULSA, Okla. – The Oral Roberts women's basketball team has finalized the 2017-18 schedule which includes three games against power five universities.
"We are excited about the way this season's schedule has come together," Head Coach Misti Cussen said. "It consists of a great mixture of strong regional opponents in the nonconference portion. Our November home schedule will be highlighted with the opportunity to host Arkansas at the Mabee Center, that will be a lot of fun for our fans."
The Golden Eagles will open the season with a road trip to the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex to face TCU (Nov. 11) and UT-Arlington (Nov. 13). ORU will then have a three-game homestand through the Thanksgiving holiday that will begin with Panhandle State (Nov. 17). The Golden Eagles will host Arkansas (Nov. 20) at the Mabee Center for the first time since 2012. Houston Baptist will make the return trip to Tulsa on November 25.
ORU will be on the road for the next eight nonconference games and will not have a home game in the month of December. The Golden Eagles look to grab their fourth consecutive Mayor's Cup trophy when they face Tulsa on November 29 at the Reynolds Center. ORU will then participate in the Griz Classic in Missoula, Montana and will face Long Beach State (Dec. 1) and Cal State Fullerton (Dec. 2). On December 6, ORU will travel north to face UMKC then to Springfield, Missouri, to play Missouri State on December 10. The Golden Eagles will be a part of the 2017 Shocker Winter Classic and face Chicago State (Dec. 15) and Alcorn State (Dec. 16) in Wichita, Kansas. On Decemeber 21, ORU will travel to Salt Lake City for the first ever meeting against Utah. The final nonconference game of the season will be on January 23 at the Mabee Center against Central Christian College.
ORU welcomes six newcomers to the squad for the 2017-18 season along with its eight returners. Second Team All-Summit League player, Faith Ihim, will be in her senior season with Golden Eagles. Last season Ihim shot 50.6 percent from the field for a total of 394 points. She gathered 233 total rebounds for an average of 7.8 per game.
