Women’s Basketball Adds Two Transfers to 2018-19 Roster

TULSA, Okla. – The Oral Roberts women's basketball team and Head Coach Misti Cussen announced the addition of Jasmyne May and Sabela Reigosa Pernas to the 2018-19 team Friday.

A 5-foot-7 guard from Fayetteville, North Carolina, Jasmyne May will join the ORU women's basketball team for the 2018-19 season as a sophomore transfer from Palm Beach State College in Lake Worth, Florida. During her freshman season, May started in 22 of her 26 games played. She recorded 8.7 points and 2.7 rebounds per game and shot 36.4 percent overall from the field. She also tallied a 22.2 three-point percentage and averaged 1.6 assists. She was named to the All-Southern Conference second team.

She is the daughter of Eugene and Jamiria Lyon. "I chose to come to ORU because of the diverse atmosphere and great coaches and basketball program" May said. She is expected to major in physical therapy and her favorite pro athlete is Maya Moore.

"We're very proud to add both of these young women to our program," Head Coach Misti Cussen said. "With the majority of our young roster returning from this past season, we were able to recruit both Jasmyne and Sabela to really complement our current team. I love that they are both becoming Golden Eagles with previous college experience. Jasmyne's athleticism and versatility on the perimeter will fit nicely with our team, giving us greater full court emphasis. Sabela is going to give us greater stretch forward presence, being effective both inside and out. Both young women will be great representatives of our University on and off of the court."

Sabela Reigosa Pernas, a 6-foot-2 forward from Barcelona, Spain, will join the ORU women's basketball team as a junior from Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa, Oklahoma. During her sophomore season at NOC-Tonkawa, she started in 25 of her 26 games played and averaged 11.8 points per game along with 7.8 rebounds. She shot 40.2 percent from the field and 28 percent from long range. She was named to the 2018 NJCAA All-Region Two Tournament Team.

She is the daughter of Aurelio Reigosa Oral and Maria Dolores Pernas. "I chose to come to ORU because it is a good place for me to finish my studies and improve my basketball skills" Reigosa Pernas said. She is expected to major in education and in her free time she likes to play sports, hangout with friends and go to the beach.
