The Oral Roberts women’s golf team is in fifth place in a tight race after round one of The Summit League Women’s Golf Championship, which kicked off Sunday. ORU shot 325, but is just four shots off the lead, held by South Dakota State at 321.
A trio of Golden Eagles were honored, Saturday, as The Summit League unveiled its 2018-19 Women's Golf First and Second All-League teams at the championship banquet held at the Meridian Center. A vote of the league's nine head coaches determined both teams.
A record-breaking duo from Oral Roberts swept the latest Summit League Golfer of the Week honors. Junior Beatriz Garcia captured the female honors after collecting medalist honors at the Kansas City Intercollegiate while senior Cody Burrows earned the male honor after turning his sixth top-five finish of the season at the Missouri Tiger Invitational.
The Oral Roberts women’s golf team led from start to finish and posted the top two individual finishers as well, as the Golden Eagles claimed a 20-shot victory at the Kansas City Intercollegiate, Tuesday. ORU shot 879 (292-288-299) for the win, while Beatriz Garcia posted a school record 211 for the individual medalist honors.
