TULSA, Okla. – The ORU women's soccer team defeated 2017 NCAA Tournament team and 2018 Southland Conference favorite Lamar, 3-2, Sunday afternoon at the Case Soccer Complex.
The Golden Eagles struck early when Jordan Langebartels scored her first goal of the season in the 6th minute. Langebartels played the ball from the center and scored from 18 yards out. Nelly Mamabolo was credited with the assist.
Sierra Beall put the ball in the back of the net in the 29th minute off of a keeper save to the right side. Langebartels initially shot the ball on goal and the keeper saved the shot, but deflected it towards Beall. The result of the play gave ORU a 2-0 lead in the first half. Langebartels was credited with the assist.
Lamar's Anna Loftus put the Cardinals on the board in the 48th minute when she scored from 16 yards out after stealing the ball outside of the penalty area and connecting with the goal from the left side. Loftus' goal was unassisted.
Langebartels put ORU up 3-1 after she scored her second goal of the game in the 67th minute. She scored from 10 yards out after dribbling through defenders on the right side. Her goal was unassisted.
Rubi Villegas made it a 3-2 match in the 89th minute of play when she scored as a result of a penalty kick. The Golden Eagles were called for a handball inside the penalty area which gave the Cardinals the chance at a penalty kick.
