TULSA, Okla. - The Oral Roberts women's soccer team has signed six players to national Letters of Intent Head Coach Roger Bush announced Friday.
Bush on the 2019 Class:
"It's exciting to welcome the 2019 commitments to the ORU Soccer family," Head Coach Roger Bush said. "Each player brings a wealth of experience from great club programs and environments. Most significantly each player uniquely enhances our collective team personality, and unequivocally helps us grow our team culture. I'm confident each will earn the Golden Eagle jersey, and is willing to sacrifice for the cause of ORU Women's Soccer."
"The work of building a recruiting class in women's soccer is a multi-year and team process. Wes Branstetter and Preston Wiruth have been directly involved in that process, while Mike Schwarz and Dan Williams have indirectly assisted through that lengthy process. The entire staff has invested in building a class that represents and reflects positively on the ORU standard, a standard honorably earned by the current and former players of the program."
Gabrielle Abbey | Defender | Norman North HS | Norman, Okla.
"We are eager to welcome the tenacity and spirit that Elle brings to competition," Head Coach Roger Bush said. "She's played the centerback role for her club team, but possesses enough athletic range and versatility to have the potential to contribute in several roles inside our team's current system. Elle is another player who comes from a great club background and we are looking forward to her joining the ORU Women's Soccer team."
Allison Austin | Goalkeeper | Norman North HS | Norman, Okla.
"Allison is another player who comes from a great club background and brings a ton in terms of personhood and character to the table for ORU Women's Soccer," Bush said. "She is a goalkeeper with good range, great anticipation, and clean technique. She's developed her game significantly in recent seasons, and her work ethos and focus provides a large ceiling for continued development. We are very excited to add Allison to the ORU soccer family and believe she'll have a bright career."
Ellise Foreman | Midfielder | Mustang HS | Mustang, Okla.
"We are very excited to add Ellise," Bush said. "She's a player who comes from a great club background and great environment. Ellise is high character person who will enhance a strong team culture. She is capable of playing in our #6 or #8 positions, fits nicely into our style of play with her vision and ability to involve her teammates in the game, and has a high on field work ethos. Ellise is versatile enough to play in other roles besides the holding midfield."
Michaela Johnson | Defender | Mira Costa HS | Hermosa Beach, Calif.
"Michaela's personality and personhood will be immediately impactful on ORU's Women's soccer culture," Bush said. "She is a tenacious defender with good pace, complemented with clean technique. Her club background has provided a wealth of experience as she transitions to the college game. Michaela has spent much of her time at wingback, and we believe she is also versatile enough to be a very flexible component of the team sheet puzzle."
Mia Kitterman | Forward | Jenks HS | Tulsa, Okla.
"Mia's club background and experience have provided the right environment for her to be ready for the transition to the college game," Bush said. "Mia has played the "9" and "10" roles for her club team and has had a knack for scoring goals at the club level which we believe can translate at the college level. She is technically savvy and possesses an array of attacking skills we are excited to add to our roster for 2019."
Sakura Wilson | Goalkeeper | Edmond North HS | Okinawa, Japan
"Sakura brings a tremendous attitude, focus, and intensity to the goalkeeper position," Bush said. "She's very calculated and meticulous in her technique and angle play which are great foundations for good goalkeeping. Sakura's day-to-day energy and enthusiasm will be welcome in a team culture that thrives on a positive collective spirit. We look forward to Sakura's contribution both on the field and also significantly off the field for ORU Women's Soccer."
