FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Summit League-leading Oral Roberts volleyball team opens the second half of the conference schedule on the road at Fort Wayne Friday night before traveling to Western Illinois for a Sunday matchup.
•Following a pair of wins on their home court over Denver and Omaha, the Golden Eagles closed the first half of The Summit League schedule with a 6-1 record to sit in first place. ORU is off to its best start in conference play since posting an 11-1 record in the 2011 campaign.
•Laura Milos, the Oct. 3 National Player of the Week by Sports Imports/AVCA and VolleyMob, ranks sixth in the nation with 356 total kills and third totaling 5.16 kills per set. Her 2,072 career kills is the second most all-time by an active player in the NCAA, while she became just the second player in ORU history to total more than 200 service aces trailing only Ori Zuzic.
•Setter Lucija Bojanjac, the ORU's all-time assists leader, needs one assist for the 4,000th of her career totaling 375 this season (5.43 per set). She would become the 11th player in Summit League history to reach the milestone. Bria Bergman has added 367 assists (5.32 per set) helping the Golden Eagles lead the conference in assists per set, ranking 58th in the country at 12.80.
•CeCe Madison has hit double-digit kills 14 times in 19 appearances, while adding five double-doubles to match Milos for the team lead. The sophomore currently ranks fourth in the league with 219 kills and fifth averaging 3.17 kills per set.
•The Golden Eagles are serving to their strengths recording seven service aces in three of the last four matches. The conference leader, Milos, has 13 aces in her previous four outings and ranks 39th nationally averaging 0.42 per set.
•ORU holds a 14-7 record against Fort Wayne in the all-time series winning five straight over the Mastodons. The Golden Eagles have controlled the series with WIU winning 36 times in 41 meetings.
•Fort Wayne is tied for fifth place in the league standings and is riding a three-match win streak in conference play dropping only one set at NDSU. The Leathernecks have been swept in three-straight matches, all on the road, and are two games behind the final spot in the Summit League Championships.
•The Golden Eagles have reached the conference tournament each of the last five seasons. They were eliminated in the semifinals by host and top-seed Denver in 2016.
