TULSA, Okla. – The final three matches of the non-conference portion of the schedule awaits the Oral Roberts volleyball team Sept. 14-15 at the SIUE Cougar Classic. The Golden Eagles face Louisiana Tech in their opening match Friday at 3:30 p.m. before battling a pair of new opponents Saturday taking on Northern Kentucky (1:30 p.m.) and host SIUE (6 p.m.) inside the Vadalabene Center.

OPENING SERVE

•The Golden Eagles play their final three non-conference matches of the season at SIUE and look to fine tune their game heading into Summit League action. ORU picked up a win over Northwestern State opening the Tulsa Volleyball Invitational last Friday before suffering a pair of losses to Abilene Christian and Tulsa capping the weekend across town.

•Five hitters have reached 50 or more kills after three tournaments, with Lara Picht taking over the team lead with 77. The senior tallied 16 kills in each of her last two appearances and added 18 digs against ACU for her first double-double of 2018.

•Senior libero Tori Roe became ORU's 10th player to eclipse 1,000 digs last season and moved up to second in the conference averaging 4.53 digs per set this season. Roe landed on the All-Tournament Team at the Dr. Mary Jo Wynn Invitational aided by a career-best 28 digs versus Ball State. She currently ranks sixth in ORU history with 1,227 digs and needs just nine to move to fourth on the all-time list.

Bria Bergman has averaged 9.15 assists per set, ranking sixth in the league, but is the top attacking setter with 37 kills. The senior set a career high with 51 assists against North Florida and has been named to the All-Tournament Team in two of three events.

•ORU has showcased consistent play at the net in 2018 recording a conference-leading 2.15 blocks per set. Junior Taylan Nero (1.03) and sophomore Morgan Blomquist (0.97) rank in the top 10 in The Summit League in blocks per set.

•The Golden Eagles meet the Norse of Northern Kentucky (5-3) and the Cougars of SIUE (0-9) for the first time in program history, while facing Louisiana Tech (3-8) for the eighth time.

•Head Coach Sheera Sirola, ORU's all-time winningest coach, welcomed two newcomers to the lineup, both freshmen, as setter Sylvia Lawson (Joplin, Missouri) and outside hitter Inka Inkret (Ivanec, Croatia) join the squad for 2018. Inkret become a go-to option offensively leading the team in kills twice, coming at Wyoming (5) and against Ball State (13).

•ORU's first home match of the season comes in The Summit League opener against four-time defending conference champion Denver at the Cooper Aerobics Center Sept. 21.

•The Golden Eagles have reached the conference tournament each of the last six seasons, including a spot in the 2017 championship match. ORU made its first postseason appearance since 2006 when it was invited to the National Invitational Volleyball Championship last year.
