TULSA, Okla. – The Oral Roberts volleyball team plays four of its final six matches at home, including two this weekend, starting with a Summit League contest against Purdue Fort Wayne Friday night at 7 p.m. The Golden Eagles close the weekend facing Western Illinois in a Sunday matinee at 1 p.m. inside the Aerobics Center.
•ORU returns home for a pair of Summit League matches against Purdue Fort Wayne and Western Illinois looking for the season sweep of both opponents. The Golden Eagles are fighting for a spot in the postseason and currently occupy the sixth and final spot for the conference tournament with six matches to play in the regular season.
•Increased consistency at the net by ORU in 2018 has led to an average of 2.11 blocks per set. Bri Greenlee's blocking emergence earned her Defensive Player of the Week honors Oct. 8 and has her ranked third in the conference averaging 1.05 blocks per set, while Morgan Blomquist also is in the top 10 in total blocks (74). Greenlee is one of only two players in the NCAA to post 11 or more blocks in multiple, four-set matches this season, including a nation's best 13 at Purdue Fort Wayne.
•Libero Tori Roe currently ranks 28th in the nation with 447 digs, including a career-best 28 on four occasions, helping ORU rank 13th in the NCAA averaging 17.84 digs per set as a team. The senior ranks second in the conference averaging 5.02 digs per set and became just the fourth player in ORU history to reach the 1,500-dig milestone Tuesday night at North Dakota State.
•Seven hitters have crossed the century mark in kills this year with Katarina Mikulic leading the team with 169. CeCe Madison continues to lead ORU averaging 2.81 kills per set, while Inka Inkret has paced the team in four of the team's last six outings.
•Bria Bergman has averaged 9.66 assists per set this season, ranking fifth in the league. The senior is the top attacking setter in the conference with 84 kills and paces the Golden Eagles with 13 double-doubles.
•Purdue Fort Wayne has won three-straight league matches, including a home upset of previously unbeaten Omaha to move into fourth place. Nicole Rightnowar is second in The Summit League averaging 3.96 kills per set swinging an average of 47 times per match. Defensively, the Mastodons have three players posting three or more digs per set in Elizabeth Britner (3.68), Rightnowar (3.38) and Katie Crowe (3.09).
•Western Illinois makes the trip to Tulsa seeking its first conference win in 2018 having dropped every contest since opening day. Melanie Patenaude leads the Fighting Leathernecks with 2.29 kills per set and Claire Grove paces the defense averaging 3.96 digs per set, ranking fourth in the conference.
•Head Coach Sheera Sirola, ORU's all-time winningest coach, welcomed two newcomers to the lineup, both freshmen, as outside hitter Inka Inkret (Ivanec, Croatia) and setter Sylvia Lawson (Joplin, Missouri) joined the squad for 2018.
•The Golden Eagles have reached the conference tournament each of the last six seasons, including a spot in the 2017 championship match. ORU made its first postseason appearance since 2006 when it was invited to the 2017 National Invitational Volleyball Championship.
