TULSA, Okla. – It's the final road weekend of the regular season for the Oral Roberts volleyball team as it makes a postseason push heading to Summit League leading Denver for an 8 p.m. (CT) contest Friday night. Currently in fourth place in the conference standings, the Golden Eagles close the trip at South Dakota State Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. (CT).
•ORU enters its final road trip of the regular season in fourth place in The Summit League standings, with a one-game lead over three teams. The Golden Eagles take on Denver, winners of its last 21 matches overall and unbeaten in conference play, before a test at South Dakota State.
•Libero Tori Roe currently ranks 23rd in the nation with 483 digs, including a career-best 28 on four occasions, helping ORU rank 13th in the NCAA averaging 17.88 digs per set as a team. The senior ranks second in the conference averaging 4.98 digs per set and became just the fourth player in ORU history to reach the 1,500-dig milestone at North Dakota State Oct. 23.
•Increased consistency at the net by ORU in 2018 has led to an average of 2.15 blocks per set. Bri Greenlee's blocking emergence earned her Defensive Player of the Week honors Oct. 8 and has her ranked fourth in the conference averaging 1.07 blocks per set, while Morgan Blomquist also is in the top 10 in total blocks (77). Greenlee is one of only two players in the NCAA to post 11 or more blocks in multiple, four-set matches this season, including a nation's best 13 at Purdue Fort Wayne.
•Seven hitters have crossed the century mark in kills this year with CeCe Madison retaking the team lead with 195 following three-straight, double-digit efforts. The junior continues to pace ORU averaging 2.91 kills per set, while Lara Picht (2.27), Inka Inkret (2.19) and Katarina Mikulic (2.08) also average more than two kills per set.
•Bria Bergman has averaged 9.66 assists per set this season, ranking fifth in the league. The senior is the top attacking setter in the conference with 84 kills and paces the Golden Eagles with 15 double-doubles.
•The Pioneers are one of only three NCAA teams to record a 20-plus match win streak in 2018 and needed a remarkable fifth-set rally to beat South Dakota Tuesday scoring six-straight points to erase a 12-9 deficit. Becca Latham leads Denver with 3.21 kills per set (third in the league) and Macy Carradine's 3.79 digs per set paces the defense.
•South Dakota State picked up a mid-week win over North Dakota Tuesday to remain in the hunt for a postseason spot, but remain three games out of the tie for fifth place. Makenzie Hennen ranks third in the conference averaging a team-leading 3.21 kills per set, while Ellie Thein digs an average of 3.15 per set for the Jackrabbits defense.
•Head Coach Sheera Sirola, ORU's all-time winningest coach, welcomed two newcomers to the lineup, both freshmen, as outside hitter Inka Inkret (Ivanec, Croatia) and setter Sylvia Lawson (Joplin, Missouri) joined the squad for 2018.
•The Golden Eagles have reached the conference tournament each of the last six seasons, including a spot in the 2017 championship match. ORU made its first postseason appearance since 2006 when it was invited to the 2017 National Invitational Volleyball Championship.
