SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Oral Roberts volleyball team had two players earn 2018 postseason recognition from The Summit League as Tori Roe was selected to the All-League First Team, while Inka Inkret landed a spot on the All-Freshman Team, as announced by the conference office Thursday.
Roe excelled at libero in her final collegiate campaign finishing as the league's leader in total digs with a career-best 554, ranking 24th in the nation. The senior from St. Louis, Missouri, reached double-figure digs in all but two matches in 2018, including a career-high 31 in four sets on Senior Night against North Dakota State.
A four-year letter winner for the Golden Eagles, Roe jumped from 10th on the all-time digs list all the way up to third (1,627) by the end of the season. She also became one of only four players in school history to tally 500 or more digs in a year as her 554 was the most in a season since 2012.
Inkret made an immediate impact for the ORU attack and finished second on the team with 211 kills averaging 2.24 per set. The Ivanec, Croatia, native led the Golden Eagles in kills eight times during the year and hit double-digit kills 13 times, including 11 of 16 Summit League contests. Her 2.73 kills per set in conference matches ranked 13th in the league.
The freshman was third on the team registering seven double-doubles and closed the campaign averaging 2.22 digs per set with a high of 18 at home against North Dakota State. Inkret put down a season-high 16 kills at North Dakota and matched the feat on the road again at South Dakota State.
It is the first honor from The Summit League for Roe as she joins a long list of award winners for the Golden Eagles. At least one player has earned all-conference honors since 1997, when ORU joined the league, formerly known as the Mid-Continent Conference. Inkret is the 14th to be named to The Summit League All-Freshman Team joining current teammates Morgan Blomquist (2017), Bri Greenlee (2016) and Taylan Nero (2016) as recent honorees for ORU.
