2015-16 #TopORUMoments; #3 - Trio Named Academic All-Americans

TULSA, Okla. – In the history of ORU Athletics there have been eight CoSIDA Academic All-Americans. Three of those came during the 2015-16 season as Kaily Cox (women's soccer), Trevor Torgerson (men's golf) and Justin Estala (track & field) each earned the distinction.

It is fitting that the first time ORU has had three honorees in one school year would come this year when the department as a whole set a new record with a cumulative GPA of 3.20.

Cox earned the honor for the second year in a row and it was one of many awards the senior garnered during her illustrious career. In her senior year alone, she won the ORU First Lady's Cup, was an Ultimate Whole Person Champion, The Summit League Defensive Player of the Year and an NSCAA First Team All-Region selection.

Along with Cox, Torgerson was a member of the ORU Ultimate Whole Person Champion team and was top 15 in The Summit League in stroke average after leading the team in top-10 finishes (5). He finished fifth at The Summit League Championship with a pair of 71s in the final two rounds.

Estala was named a USTFCCCA All-American during the 2015-16 indoor season after a 10th place finish at the NCAA National Championship. He won five straight indoor pole vault events, including The Summit League Championship.

This is the 13th of 15 editions of the #TopORUMoments from 2015-16 as selected by the ORU Media Relations Department and a social media poll.
