2017-18 #TopORUMoments; #6 - Two SportsCenter Top Plays

TULSA, Okla. – As winter turned to spring, ORU was not only featured on ESPN's SportsCenter Top 10 Plays twice, the Golden Eagles had the top play on two occasions. The pair of top plays is number six on our #TopORUMoments countdown.

Austin Ruder (MBB) started things off February 8 as the senior hit a 3-pointer from the corner as time expired in overtime to beat North Dakota State 67-66. The buzzer-beater was Ruder's career best sixth 3-pointer of the game. The game-winner came after Emmanuel Nzekwesi hit a contested layup with 28 seconds left in regulation to tie the game and send it to overtime.

After taking over the starting shortstop job a week earlier, Harrison Smith solidified his spot in the infield with an incredible diving catch against Fort Wayne April 13 to give the Golden Eagles their second top play. A flare into shallow left field looked like it would drop in between three Golden Eagles before Smith came flying in to record the out.
