TULSA, Okla. – Despite a total dominance of the sport, the Oral Roberts baseball team swept The Summit League postseason awards for just the sixth time in program history and the first time since 2009 as ORU took home Player of the Year, Pitcher of the Year, Newcomer of the Year and Coach of the Year honors.
The Golden Eagles had eight different players recognized on the all-league first team, with Anthony Sequeira earning first team honors as both a utility player and a relief pitcher. Sequeira was also tabbed as the Player of the Year. Xavier Altamirano earned Pitcher of the Year honors, while Matt Whatley was named the Newcomer of the Year. In his third season at the helm, Ryan Folmar got his team back to the NCAA Tournament and finished the season 41-16, earning him Coach of the Year honors.
ORU was 25-5 in the league this season and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the 16th straight season as a member of the Summit League.
This is the first of 15 editions of the #TopORUMoments from 2014-15 as selected by the ORU Media Relations Department and a social media poll.
