Freshman utility man Trevor McCutchin got his first start of the season in right field and he made it count, going 1-for-2 with a two-run double in the fifth inning to put ORU ahead 10-1, along with a sacrifice fly in the first.

Dallas Baptist strung together seven hits in the bottom half of sixth, including a three-run home run to close the gap to 10-7, but ORU answered the call in the eighth with two more runs as Noah Cummings sent a double to right field to score two and put the Golden Eagles ahead, 12-7.

Sophomore Taylor Varnell picked up the win for the Golden Eagles in his first start of the season. The left went a solid six innings, allowing just three runs and striking out four. Junior Brady Womacks entered in the seventh inning and closed the door on the Patriots.
