TULSA, Okla. -- Thirteen student-athletes from the Oral Roberts baseball team are competing in various summer leagues across the country this year. Sophomore catcher Matt Whatley headlines the summer circuit as he joins the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox in the prestigious Cape Code Baseball League.
Four Golden Eagles in Evan Eubanks, Michael Hungate, Nick Rotola and Kyler Stout will make their way to the Coastal Plains League as members of the Wilmington Sharks while closer Brady Womacks heads to the Petersburg Generals.
Sophomore second baseman Nick Roark joins the Madison Mallards in the Northwoods League while right-hander Korbin Polly (Derby Twins) and utility man Sam Grellner (Bethany Bulls) will play in the Jayhawk League.
Relief pitchers Jake Morrison and Billy Lovvorn will also see action this summer in the Greater Southwest Collegiate League and the MINK League, respectively. Morrison a southpaw will join the Fort Worth Whitetails while the soft-tossing Lovvorn will head to the Branson Nationals.
Tulsa native Alex Schmitz will join the Ozark Stars of the Show-Me Collegiate League after redshirting his first season with the Golden Eagles while Trent Shelton will suit up for the Brazos Valley Bombers in the Texas Collegiate League.
