The Basics
Score: SIUE 2 – Oral Roberts 1
Records: SIUE (4-5) – ORU (6-3)
Location: Tulsa, Okla. (J.L. Johnson Stadium)

TULSA, Okla. – The Oral Roberts baseball team could not make an early lead stand in a 2-1 loss to SIUE Sunday afternoon at J.L. Johnson in the series finale.

The Golden Eagles scored first as Spencer Henson drove a RBI double to left in the fourth and put runners on base in seven of the nine innings in the rubber game, including having the lead-off man aboard in five frames. ORU just could not find a timely hit going 2-for-18 with a runner on base dropping their first series of the season.

Noah Cummings and RJ Pearson combined for four of ORU's six hits on the day and starting pitcher Justin McGregor went six innings allowing one run with seven strikeouts.

Quote of the Day

"We have to win those, there's no question. I think we've played about the same game all year long. We had base runners on and were only able to score one run, so we have to start figuring it out offensively a little bit. We have to get going and get a little momentum in that. I thought, as good as we were in some moments yesterday; we weren't good in those moments today. Again, it's something we have to figure out moving forward." – Head Coach Ryan Folmar

Turning Point

SIUE erased the Golden Eagles' one-run lead scoring in the sixth and tallied the go-ahead and eventual winning run in the top of the ninth. The Cougars took advantage of a fielding error to get the first runner on base and after a sacrifice bunt moved him into scoring position, Jackson Layton dropped a single into right bringing home the second run that had to slide under a tag to score.

Inside the Box Score
