FARGO, N.D. – Cal Hernandez reached base five times with four hits Saturday afternoon as the Oral Roberts baseball team took down North Dakota State 9-3 at Newman Outdoor Field giving the Golden Eagles their eighth-straight victory.
The Golden Eagles scored in seven of nine innings played as the top three spots in the lineup produced in a big way. Nick Roark, Hernandez and Noah Cummings combined to go 10-for-15 at the plate with five runs and three RBI.
Ausua continued his brilliant pitching of the previous six weeks as he tossed 7.2 innings for the win to extend his Summit League win total to eight. Brady Womacks struck out the final four batters of the game to finish off ORU's second series win at NDSU in program history and first since 2015.
Quote of the Day
"Miguel was good. He threw a lot of strikes and a lot of first-pitch strikes. I was impressed by the way he attacked the zone today and I thought that was the difference. Then Brady came in and I thought he was good too and really sharp." – Head Coach Ryan Folmar
Holding a 1-0 lead over the Bison in the top of the third inning, the Golden Eagles loaded the bases with no outs. Roark, Hernandez and Cummings all hit singles to put three runners aboard before the NDSU starting pitcher struck out the next two batters. Nick Rotola stepped in and came through with a clutch, two-run double to the corner in left field giving ORU a 3-0 cushion.
