Tulsa, Okla. (J.L. Johnson Stadium)

TULSA, Okla. – The Oral Roberts baseball team rallied back from a pair of deficits thanks to three home runs, but could not hold off visiting South Dakota State in the final inning during a 9-8 loss Sunday afternoon at J.L. Johnson Stadium.

The Golden Eagles never led during the game despite scoring eight runs on 11 hits in the weekend finale. After Trevor McCutchin led the fifth with a solo home run to left center, Hunter Wilson launched a three-run blast to the ORU bullpen that evened the game 4-4 as the home side stormed back for a four-run frame via the long ball after falling behind early.

McCutchin delivered again in the seventh as he beat the SDSU shift lacing a two-run double and Anthony Martinez added a sacrifice fly in the eighth inning that tied the game again, only to have the Jackrabbits scratch across the winning run in the top of the ninth.

Quote of the Day

"The bottom line is we've got to get better. Once again, we didn't do those little things and it came down to a couple of mental mistakes late in the game. We'll see how we respond from this and how we learn from these moments. It's about getting better every time out and hopefully we do that on Tuesday." – Head Coach Ryan Folmar

Turning Point

For the second-straight game, the Jackrabbits broke a tie and scored the deciding run in the top of the ninth inning. A lead-off walk was erased as Drew Lowe fired home to Riley Keizor on a shallow single to catch the runner in a close call at the plate, which led to the ejection of SDSU's head coach. The Jacks capitalized on an ORU balk that moved the winning run into scoring position by hitting a two-out double to the left-center gap.

Inside the Box Score

- McCutchin had one of his best days of the season as the senior was 2-for-3 at the plate and also drew a walk, the only free pass earned by the Golden Eagles. The Owasso, Oklahoma, native brought home a season-high three runs and tied the team and Summit League lead on his fifth home run of the campaign.

- Wilson's round tripper was his first of the season as he got the crowd to its feet on the three-run swing. Lowe finished with another multi-hit performance going 2-for-4 and scored a run for the ORU offense.

- Isaac Coffey pitched 5.1 innings in the start surrendering six runs on eight hits and struck out three. The freshman pulled double duty as the starting pitcher and designated hitter, where he added two hits, two runs and a RBI on a solo home run in the sixth. Trey Wolf took the loss on the mound allowing one run on two hits with a walk.

- The home series loss was just the second for the Golden Eagles during their time in The Summit League and first since April 24-26, 2015 against SDSU.
