Inside Game Leads ORU to 70-62 Win Over Bameso

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic – The Oral Roberts men's basketball team led for more than 30 minutes and topped Bameso 70-62 Friday evening as the Golden Eagles' Dominican tour continued.

Led by Albert Owens' 24 points and 10 rebounds, the Golden Eagles moved to 1-1 on their Dominican tour with two games still remaining. Adding to what Owens was doing down low, Javan White and Kris Martin each grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds of their own. Chris Crawford added 11 points.

ORU shot 45 percent (25/55) from the field in the game, but was just 26 percent (4/15) from 3-point range. The rebounding helped the cause as the Golden Eagles held a 48-34 rebounding edge and a 40-28 advantage in points in the paint.

Bameso was led by Luis Aquino (12 points) and Ariel Martinez (11 points).

Turning Point
Bameso cut the lead to five with 6:38 to play before Albert Owens scored the next seven points to make it a 67-55 lead with less than two minutes to go.

Individual Leaders
Oral Roberts:  Albert Owens was dominant down low, scoring 24 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Kris Martin and Javan White also cleaned up the glass with 11 rebounds each.
Bameso:  Luis Aquino scored 12 points, while Ariel Martinez added 11.

Inside the Box Score
- ORU was 25-55 (45 percent) from the field, while Bameso was 22-66 (33 percent).
- Although Friday's performance won't count, the 24 points scored by Albert Owens are the most of his ORU career, topping the 18 scored against South Dakota State.
- ORU held advantages in bench points (35-29), fast break points (8-4) and points in the paint (40-28).
- Despite getting out-rebounded, Bameso had the advantage in second chance points (16-2)
