TULSA, Okla. – As part of the Nike Championship Basketball Clinic that was hosted at the Mabee Center, the Oral Roberts men's basketball team took to the court for the first official practice of the 2015-16 season Saturday afternoon.
While the clinic featured Bob Knight, Bruce Webber and others, Saturday afternoon was all about the Golden Eagles. While ORU put nine newcomers on the floor, the 10 days of practice and the mission trip to Dominican Republic over the summer helped the learning curve.
"Those 10 days helped a lot," said senior forward Brandon Conley. "That got everyone up to speed before practice started. Now they just have to catch on to the small things and when they do that we will be rolling. We have a really good group of new guys and we have a couple of veterans who can set the tone for them so they can set out on their path for greatness."
Fans can get their first look at the team in action at the Blue/White Scrimmage at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 24 as part of the University's 50th Anniversary celebration. The regular season starts November 13 as ORU hosts Missouri State.
