MACOMB, Ill. – An outstanding second half effort erased a halftime deficit Thursday and the Oral Roberts men's basketball team will look to continue that momentum as the Golden Eagles head to Western Illinois Saturday evening.
Saturday's game will tip off from Western Hall at 7 p.m. and will be videostreamed through the Western Illinois website, GoLeathernecks.com. • ORU and Western Illinois have met 36 times entering Saturday's contest. ORU has won 29 of those (29-7), including six of the last seven.
• A win Saturday would make it three straight wins for the Golden Eagles. Even with an 8-2 start to the year, ORU's most consecutive wins this season were four as part of the Men Against Breast Cancer Classic.
• A loss Saturday would be the first regular regular season loss to Western Illinois since February 11, 2010.
• ORU started the year 8-2, claimed the PSO Mayor's Cup for the third year in a row with a 70-68 win over Tulsa, and swept through the Men Against Breast Cancer Classic at James Madison to win the tournament with a 3-0 record.
• Albert Owens and Obi Emegano (MVP) were each named to the Men Against Breast Cancer Classic All-Tournament Team after helping ORU to a 3-0 record and tournament championship.
• ORU was picked to finish third in The Summit League in the preseason poll, although the Golden Eagles did pick up one first place vote. Obi Emegano, who has earned a league-best three Player of the Week honors already, was tabbed as the league's Player of the Year.
