Malone Joins Golden Eagle Basketball Program

TULSA, Okla. – Graduate transfer Kaelen Malone has been added to the 2018-19 Oral Roberts men's basketball roster, it was announced by Head Coach Paul Mills on Monday.

Malone earned his bachelor's degree in communications from Wichita State in May, 2018, and will have one season of eligibility with the Golden Eagles.

"I'm excited about Kaelen joining our team here at ORU," said Mills. "We found ourselves in a position looking for an additional guard late in the year due to injuries so we are fortunate to get a player and a person of Kaelen's caliber. Kaelen spent two years involved as a player at a wonderful program at Wichita State and coaches there raved about his character and work ethic. I'm confident Kaelen will add value to ORU this season, on and off the court."

Prior to his two seasons in Wichita, Malone played the 2015-16 season at McLennan Community College, where he saw action in 24 games and helped his team to a 27-5 finish and a No. 9 national ranking.

Malone was an all-district performer and a TAPPS 3A Second Team All-State selection in 2011-12 for McKinney Christian Academy and led his team to the district playoffs for just the second time in school history. The son of Mitch Malone and Lorna Tucker-Malone, he was an honor roll student and was an all-region performer on the track as well. Before beginning his collegiate career, Malone spent the 2013-14 season at Westwind Preparatory Academy in Phoenix, Arizona, where he averaged 18.4 points and 8.0 assists per game.
