TULSA, Okla. – With the 2015 Summit League Men's Golf Championships beginning Friday, the league announced its All-Summit League teams Thursday evening. Scott Newell was named to the first team, while Parker Dolezal earned second team honors.
Newell enters the tournament fourth in the Summit League with a 73.0 stroke average. He has been the top ORU finisher in six of the nine tournaments this year, including leading the Golden Eagles to a team championship at the Derek Dolenc/SIUE Invitational. Newell has three top five finishes and has finished in the top 20 in seven of the team's nine tournaments. He owns seven rounds under par, and twice has finished at -2 for the tournament. His highest finish was a third place finish at the Derek Dolenc/SIUE Invitational after shooting 71-70-73—214.
Dolezal has five rounds under par this year, including a career best 67 to finish one under for the tournament at the Jackrabbit Invitational. He is ninth in the league in scoring (74.0), and finished in a tie for 10th at the Derek Dolenc/SIUE Invitational, helping ORU to the team victory. Dolezal was the top ORU finisher at The Bill Ross Intercollegiate, tying for 11th overall, and also the Pizza Hut Pat Hicks Invitational, tying for 17th overall.
As a team, ORU enters the Summit League Championships second in scoring with a 297.2 average, right behind Denver's 289.2.
