ORU to host Omaha in Summit League contest

TULSA, Okla. - The Oral Roberts University men's soccer team looks for a second straight win on Saturday as the Golden Eagles host Omaha in a Summit League match at the Case Soccer Complex. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

ORU (4-3-1, 0-1-0) moved above .500 on Tuesday evening with a 3-2 victory over Incarnate Word at home. Matthew Rogers scored two of his three goals this season in the win, netting the game-winner in the 89th minute.

Gerardo Salas had a big game against the Cardinals, earning an assist on Rogers' first goal, and netting a goal with 33 seconds remaining in the first half. Arturo Rodriquez recorded his first two assists as a Golden Eagle.

With an assist against UIW, Alex White has four on the season, second-most in the league behind Omaha's sophomore midfielder Mark Moulton, who has five.

Golden Eagle goalkeeper Ben LaCourse is second in the league and 13th in the nation with 45 saves this season. Entering Saturday's contest, LaCourse is pulling in 5.27 saves per game, the 12th highest in the nation. He is on pace to break the school record held by Andrew Techanchuk (2010) who pulled in 4.84 saves per game.

Omaha (4-3-1, 1-0-0) is coming off a 1-0 shutout victory over Eastern Illinois in its conference opener last weekend at home. Vance Rookwood scored the game-winner in the 78th minute for his team-high fifth goal of the season.

A pair of goalkeepers, junior Josh Christensen and redshirt freshman Joseph Ghitis, have split time this season for the Mavericks, each playing almost 400 minutes. Christensen has had the most success, allowing only three goals and pulling in 14 saves, while Ghitis has allowed seven goals and recorded nine saves.

ORU leads the all-time series against UNO, 2-1. Last season in Omaha, Wayne Farmer put in the game-winner with nine seconds remaining in the match to give the Golden Eagles a 2-1 win. Edgardo Mira scored the first goal of the match in the 25th minute, with Javier Reyes and Johnny Chavez providing the assists.
