ORU hits the road for non-conference match at MSU

TULSA, Okla. - The Oral Roberts University men's soccer team looks to extend its unbeaten streak to three matches on Tuesday as the Golden Eagles travel up I-44 to take on Missouri State in a non-conference showdown. Kickoff in Springfield, Missouri, is scheduled for 7 p.m.

ORU (4-3-2) is coming off a scoreless draw on Saturday night at home against Omaha, while MSU (5-3-2) blanked Drake 2-0 on Saturday in Springfield.

The two teams faced each other at the Case Soccer Complex in the regular season opener September 1, with the Golden Eagles walking away with a 1-0 victory in double-overtime. ORU leading scorer Johnny Chavez scored his first goal of the season in the 104th minute for the game-winner, and Alex White earned his first of a team-high four assist.

Sophomore goalkeeper Ben LaCourse has been a consistent force between the posts this season for the Golden Eagles as he enters Tuesday's match 12th in the nation with 50 saves and 5.56 saves per game.

Nine of MSU's 10 matches this season have ended in a shutout, with the Bears recording six. Redshirt sophomore Addison Watson has been in goal for five the shutouts this season by the Bears, and Liam Preistley has earned one.

Despite its record, MSU has only outscored opponents 9-7 this season. Redshirt junior Emmerich Hoegg leads the attack as the only multiple-goal scorer with four.

The Golden Eagles haven't allowed a goal against the Bears in the previous three meetings, including two shutouts last season. MSU leads the all-time series 5-12-3.
