ORU Men’s Soccer Signs Five on National Signing Day

ORU Men’s Soccer Signs Five on National Signing Day

TULSA, Okla. - The Oral Roberts men's soccer team signed five players to National Letters of Intent, Head Coach Ryan Bush announced today. Jorge Barrientos, Dante Brigida, Jose Lalo Castro, Michael Chatel, Patricio Garcia and Chris Quintero will join the Golden Eagles for the 2017 season.

Bush on the 2017 class:

I am excited to announce this signing class and these young men to our soccer family. I believe this class of players is a reflection of where we have come as a program in the last four years. First, and most importantly this class brings a ton of character and players with a tremendous work ethic. From the moment these kids stepped on campus I knew they were going to be a tremendous fit for the ORU soccer family and the institution as a whole. This class includes players that have been called into their respective national teams, player's that have won back to back national championships, the best player from Oklahoma and players that have competed inside the Developmental Academy at the highest level of soccer in America.

I would like to thank Chris Taylor and Bobby Behrens for their tremendous work and countless hours they have spent solidifying this class. We created goals inside of our recruiting regimen of keeping the top players inside Oklahoma, being more regional based and opening recruiting channels inside the Developmental Academy. Coach Taylor and Coach Behrens have done just that.

This group of kids has competed at the highest level and come from professional settings. More importantly they have filtered through and found student athletes that will continue to grow and enhance the culture that's been cultivated inside of our program.

Jorge Barrientos | Mesquite, Texas | West Mesquite High School

Bush on Jorge Barrientos: "Jorge is another great character kid with a tremendous personality," Head Coach Ryan Bush said. "He is a very crafty player with the ability to run at the game and create goals for both himself and his teammates. Jorge is another player that has played inside the Development Academy for the Dallas Texans soccer club. He brings a wealth of experience competing at the highest level."

Dante Brigida | Edmond, Oklahoma | Edmond Santa Fe High School

Bush on Dante Brigida: "Dante is a great kid with a great personality and tremendous focus," Head Coach Ryan Bush said. "We are excited that he chose to become a part of our soccer family. Dante in our opinion is the best player coming out of Oklahoma in this class. He has continued to prove himself by recently leading his club team to the top of the national league and being the top goal scorer in the country inside the league. His decision to come to ORU says a lot about where we have come as a program in the last four years. We have high expectations for the impact he will make here at ORU."

Jose Lalo Castro | Bentonville, Arkansas | Bentonville HS

Bush on Jose Lalo Castro: "Lalo is a great kid and is a perfect fit with the type of culture we have created inside our program," Head Coach Ryan Bush said. "His work ethic combined with his technical ability and soccer IQ is a difficult ingredient to find. Lalo played for the FC Dallas Academy and won back-to-back national championships at the youth level and was a full-time starter in those groups. He is joining us from the top soccer team and academy in America and we are excited about the experience he brings along with it. His impact inside that program, I believe, is a great indicator of what he will do here at ORU."

Michael Chatel | Mascouche, Quebec, Canada | College Laval HS

Bush on Michael Chatel: "Michael is a tremendous young man with a lot of character," Head Coach Ryan Bush said. "He has a tremendous motor and work ethic which will give him the opportunity to make an immediate impact on the program. Michael was recently called in to train with the Canadian National team and I believe this is a testament to his hard work. I also believe this is a great indicator to where he's headed in the future with the game of soccer."

Patricio Garcia | McKinney, Texas | McKinney Boyd High School

Bush on Patricio Garcia: "Patty is another perfect fit inside our culture," Head Coach Ryan Bush said. "He's a great kid with a great personality and has a tremendous competitive spirit. We believe Patty will flourish here under our system. He's lightning fast and a courageous ball winner. Patty has the ability to come and make an impact straight away. He is also another player that has played inside the Development Academy at the highest level and is a teammate of Jorge's."

Chris Quintero | Dallas, Texas | Greenhill School

Bush on Chris Quintero: "Christian is another great fit and great add for the program," Head Coach Ryan Bush said. "He sees the game extremely well and is a very good passer. He likes to keep the game simple which is hard to find in attacking minded midfielders. Christian has the potential to come in and compete for playing time straight away. He is another player that comes from Dallas Texans soccer club and has competed at a high level. We are excited he chose to join our soccer family."
