TULSA, Okla. – Former Oral Roberts men's soccer midfielder Edgardo Mira has signed to play professional soccer for Siquinala FC in the Guatemalan First Division National League.
Mira competed in 50 total games during his time with the Golden Eagles and started in 38 of those games. He recorded 13 goals and eight assists for a total of 34 points. He had a .404 shot-on-goal percentage and two game winning goals in his career.
"Edgardo is a true professional in his approach," ORU assistant men's soccer coach Chris Taylor said. "He has done very well to grow his career and is reaping those rewards. He loved his time at ORU and constantly checks in to see how his Golden Eagles are doing. This contract in the first division of Guatemala is a big step for him. We a really proud of the person he has grown in to and are excited to see where his professional career takes him."
In his senior season, Mira started in 15 of the 18 games played. He had a hat-trick against Fort Wayne at home his final year scoring three goals against the Mastodons and led the Golden Eagles to a 4-1 victory. He was named to the All-Summit League second team for his efforts his senior year.
Mira is originally from San Salvador, El Salvador, and came to play for ORU in 2012. Prior to ORU, he played for Sevilla F.C. and was a U-20 selection for the El Salvador national team. He was also named MVP of the Texas Rush.
