Men’s Soccer Records 5-1 Win over Gonzaga Friday

TULSA, Okla. – Dante Brigida recorded his first career hat trick in the Oral Roberts men's soccer team's 5-1 win over Gonzaga Friday evening at the Case Soccer Complex.

Just 22 seconds in to the match, the Golden Eagles took a 1-0 lead when Junior Chavez connected on a penalty kick.

After the break, Dante Brigida gave ORU a 2-0 advantage when he scored from 16 yards out after receiving a pass from Paul Amponsah from the right side in the 58th minute. Tanguy Guerineau created the play to Amponsah before the goal, Guerineau and Amponsah were each credited with assists.

Gonzaga made it a 2-1 game in the 63rd minute when Theo O'Malley scored a header goal over the keeper off of a Chris Geanon cross. Geanon was given the assist on the play.

In the 71st minute, Dante Brigida scored his second goal of the night at the far post from six yards out, off of a cross by Patricio Garcia, to give ORU a 3-1 lead. Garcia was credited with the assist.

Brigida recorded his hat trick in the 80th minute of play and gave ORU a 4-1 lead on an unassisted goal from the right side as he dribbled through defenders and beat the goalkeeper one-on-one from 10 yards out.

Junior Chavez tallied a brace in tonight's contest scoring his second goal off of a penalty kick in the 82nd minute and ultimately giving the Golden Eagles the deciding score of 5-1.

- ORU out-shot Gonzaga 17-14 in the match. The Golden Eagles had 14 shots on goal, while the Bulldogs had seven.

- Miles Motakef played all 90 minutes in tonight's match and recorded six saves. Motakef's record moves to 4-2-1 on the season. He now leads the Summit League in saves with 37 for the season.

- Junior Chavez recorded five shots on goal with two goals. Dante Brigida recorded four shots on goal with three goals and one assist. Brigida is currently second in the Summit League with five goals this season.

-Paul Amponsah, Patricio Garcia and Tanguy Guerineau each recorded an assist in the contest.

- There were 26 fouls called in tonight's contest.
