ORU Wins Fourth Straight with 4-3 Victory over SIUE

TULSA, Okla. – Jose Castro scored his first goal of the season with a game winning golden goal to give the Oral Roberts men's soccer team a 4-3 overtime victory over SIUE Saturday evening at the Case Soccer Complex.

Reed Berry put the Golden Eagles on top early, nine minutes in to the match. Berry scored his fifth goal of the season by stealing the ball from the keeper and tapping it in from inside the box.

Dante Brigida made it a 2-0 match when he scored his sixth goal of the season off of a cross by Berry in the 12th minute. Berry and Tanguy Guerineau were both credited with assists.

SIUE got on the scoreboard before halftime in the 42nd minute with a goal by Mathias Krigbaum that was received by Vincent Jackson II on a cross. Jackson II was given the assist.

After halftime, Brigida recorded his second goal of the night quickly after a shot from 12 yards out that connected with the back of the net in the 48th minute. Guerineau earned his second assist of the night on the play.

The Cougars tied the match after back-to-back goals by Jorge Gonzalez. Gonzalez's first goal was a penalty kick in the 53rd minute and his second was a shot from 10 yards out in the 57th minute. Joergen Pettersen was credited with the assist on the game tying goal.

Just 1:36 into the first overtime period, Jose Castro scored the game winning goal, his first of the season, on a shot from 17 yards out. Josselyn Petel and Fredrik Ullersmo were credited with assists on the play.

"SIUE is a great team that we really respect," Head Coach Ryan Bush said. "Our guys came out and scored early, but it was a battle. We need to be sounder defensively, but overall I am pleased with our effort."

Inside the Box Score

-ORU had 20 shots on the night with 11 on goal. SIUE had 10 shots with seven on goal.

-Miles Motakef played all 102 minutes in goal. Motakef recorded four saves in the game. His recorded improves to 5-0.

-Brigida leads the Summit League with seven goals on the season. Guerineau leads the league with six assists.

-There were 18 fouls in the match between the two teams and five yellow cards issued.
