No. 24 ORU Wins Summit League Regular Season Championship

OMAHA, Neb. – The No. 24 ORU men's soccer team claimed the Summit League regular season title after claiming a 3-0 win at Omaha on Saturday. If the Golden Eagles win or tie next Saturday against Western Illinois they will claim the No. 1 seed in the Summit League Tournament.

The Golden Eagles scored quickly in the fifth minute of the game. Dante Brigida scored his 10th goal of the season on an assist by Tanguy Guerineau. It was Guerineau's 11th assist of the season and he now leads the nation out-right in the category.

Reed Berry added to the Golden Eagle lead making it a 2-0 game in the 22nd minute. It was Berry's 11th goal of the season. Guerineau was credited with his 12th assist of the season on the play.

The exclamation point was added by Andrew Nunez to make it a 3-0 game in the 87th minute. It was Nunez's first goal of the season. Jose Castro was credited with his second assist of the season.

-Thirteen wins is the most wins for an ORU team in a season in program history.

-Berry's goal puts him at 11 goals for the season. He is currently leading the Summit League in total goals. It also puts him tied for second in the ORU record books for goals in a season.

-Guerineau's two assists places in atop the Summit League in the category as well as the nation.

-ORU had nine shots on the night with five on goal. Omaha had 10 shots with one on goal.

-Miles Motakef played all 90 minutes in goal. Motakef recorded three saves in the game. His recorded improves to 12-1. He now is No. 1 all-time with most wins in a season and third all-time in a career.

-There were 26 fouls in the match between the two teams along with five yellow cards.

ORU will close out the regular season at home Saturday, November 9 against Western Illinois. If the Golden Eagles win they will win the Summit League out-right and clinch the No.1 spot in the Summit League Tournament.
