TULSA, Okla. – The ORU Men's Soccer team has moved up to No. 20 in the nation in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 poll, it was announced Tuesday. The Golden Eagles were previously ranked No. 24.
ORU has also claimed the No. 24 spot in the College Soccer News Top 30 Poll.
After coming off a win at Omaha, 3-0, the claimed at least a share of the Summit League regular season title. It is the first time since 2004 the Golden Eagles have won the regular season title. It is the third time the program has won the accolade.
ORU is 13-2 overall and 4-0 in Summit League play and has a 48 RPI according to the NCAA. The Golden Eagles have surpassed a program record for most wins in a season. Senior Tanguy Guerineau currently leads the nation in total assists (12) and assists per game (0.80).
According to NCAA statistics, the Golden Eagles rank in the Top 10 in assists per game (3rd), points per game (4th), scoring offense (5th), shots on goal per game (8th), total assists (4th), total goals (5th), total points (5th) and win-lost-tied percentage (8th).
The Golden Eagles will close out the 2019 regular season with a home match against Western Illinois Saturday, November 9 at 7 p.m. at the Case Soccer Complex. If the Golden Eagles defeat or tie the Leathernecks they will be the outright Summit League regular season champions and will have the No. 1 seed in the Summit League Tournament.
