No. 20 ORU Falls in Final Minutes to Western Illinois

TULSA, Okla. – The No. 20 ORU men's soccer team fell short to the Western Illinois Leathernecks, 2-1, Saturday evening at the Case Soccer Complex. The Golden Eagles claim a share of the Summit League regular season championship, but earn the No. 2 seed in the league tournament.

Western Illinois scored in the 83rd minute on a goal by Daisuke Otsuka that was assisted by Christian Junna. The goal was set up by a corner that was sent in to the far post and connected with the back of the net on the left side.

Ryan DeBois made it a 2-0 Leatherneck advantage in the 89th minute with a shot to the right side that was assisted by Gimale Essacu and Timothy Trilk. Trilk sent the ball from the keeper spot down field that was then touched by Essacu and scored by DeBois.

Dante Brigida scored in the 90th minute to make it a 2-1 match. Brigida's goal was his 11th of the season. It was assisted by Gustavo Vargas.
