Chris Taylor joined the ORU men’s soccer program in July 2015. Taylor was the 22nd overall pick in the MLS Draft by the Portland Timbers, after a tremendous career at the University of Tulsa.
A defender in his playing days, Taylor works with all aspects of the team including recruiting, team travel and scouting, while also helping in all day-to-day operations.
"We are excited Chris has made the choice to become a Golden Eagle. The decision making process was difficult and at the end of the process we all agreed that he was a perfect fit for ORU and a proven winner," said Bush. "He has proven himself at every level from competing for the US U-20 National Team to making four national tournament appearances during his college career."
Taylor started 14-of-16 MLS Reserve League matches and led the Timbers reserve squad with 855 minutes played in 2011. He also played in exhibitions against the English Premier League’s West Bromwich Albion, while also seeing action against Club América and AFC Ajax.
Taylor was a four-year letterwinner for the Golden Hurricanes. During his career at Tulsa, he started 81 of 82 matches. He scored eight goals, four of which were game-winners, and added 17 assists for 33 points from his defender position. Taylor picked up All-Conference USA accolades as a sophomore, junior and senior, and was tabbed to the All-Freshman team. He also was a two-time NSCAA All-Midwest Region selection.
"Chris is very passionate, energetic and has a tremendous work ethic. He will make an immediate impact here at ORU and will continue to build on a foundation that has been laid over the past two years."
