McCorkle joined the OBU staff in 2012 and took the men's tennis team to the NAIA tournament in 2013 and 2015. He made tournament appearances with the women's team 2013-2015. In 2014, the men's team made ITA men's singles National runner-up. In his five years as head coach for the men's team he had a combined record of 64-42. His record as women's head coach was 81-30.

In 2016, his women's team won the D-II Great American Conference regular season championship and was named conference Women's Coach of the Year. Most recently in 2017 his men's tennis team won the GAC regular season and tournament championships. He was named 2017 GAC Men's Coach of the Year. McCorkle was named 2017 NCCAA Men's and Women's Coach of the Year. In 2017, his team's won the NCCAA Men's and Women's National Championships.

Before serving at OBU, he was the boy's tennis coach at Cascia Hall Preparatory School and was the tennis instructor at the LaFortune Tennis Center. At Cascia Hall, he coached the boys to a state title in 2010 and regional championships in 2010 and 2011. The Tulsa World named him High School Coach of the Year in 2010.

As a player at OBU, McCorkle ranked second all-time in combined career wins with 91. He won the 2006 ITA regional title and qualified for the ITA National Tournament. He helped his 2006 OBU team to a Sooner Athletic Conference title and a berth into the NAIA tournament. He graduated from Sand Springs High School where he earned the Oklahoma Boys Player of the Year in 2005.
