ORU Track and Field Sets Personal Bests at Pittsburg State Invitational

PITTSBURG, Kan. – The Oral Roberts men's and women's track and field teams posted multiple top-five performances Saturday at the Pittsburg State Invitational inside the Robert W. Plaster Center.

Pitt State hosted over 20 teams during its invitational showcasing some of the region's top programs. The Golden Eagles made strides behind sophomores McKayla Roberts and Omeiza Akerele. Both posted personal records, Roberts in the 800 meters for the women and Akerele in the 400 meters on the men's side. The ORU women posted six top-five finishes for the meet, with two first-place finishes, while the men matched the two event titles.

News & Notes
- Reigning Summit League Female Athlete of the Week, Mercy Abire, picked up another event title winning the long jump for the second-consecutive week.

- McKayla Roberts achieved a personal best in the 800 meters, running a time of 2:18.51. Her mark also landed her the top spot in the unseeded event.

- Omeiza Akerele matched the top 400 meters time of his ORU career, set nearly a year ago to the day, earning a fifth-place finish.

- Pole Vaulters Justin Estala and Tommy Dial made ORU's presence known in the invitational event, taking first and third, respectively. Estala topped his open pole vault meet record from 2016.
