Estala Named to Summit League Academic All-League Team

ELMHURST, Ill. – With the conclusion of the 2017 Summit League Indoor Track and Field Championships, the League has announced its Academic All-League Teams as voted on by the institution's faculty athletics representatives and sports information directors. A total of 21 student-athletes, 10 men and 11 women, were named to the team and honored for their combined athletic and academic performances this season.

2017 League champion North Dakota State had four represented on the Men's Academic All-League Team. South Dakota State received three honorees, while IUPUI, Oral Roberts, and South Dakota each finished with one. Seven of the 10 recognized were first-time recipients of the honor, with only NDSU's Jonah Warwick and Ryan Enerson, and South Dakota State's JJ Hejna being named to the 2016 squad. Warwick was also named a 2015 honoree.

The 10-time defending Summit League champion Bison and 2017 runner-up South Dakota each had four voted academic all-league, followed by South Dakota State with two and Omaha with one. Three of the 11-person team are multiple-time honorees and all members of the North Dakota State squad. Amy Andrushko earned her fourth career honor, while teammates Morgan Milbrath garnered a third career nod, and Courtney Pasiowitz her second.

To be eligible for The Summit League Academic All-League team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of at least 3.30 (on a 4.0 scale), completed at least one full academic year at the current institution and participated in 50 percent of their team's competitions.  The men's and women's indoor track and field academic all-league teams are made up of the 10 student-athletes receiving the most votes with all ties standing.
